Description
22-16-20 DIY Solar Kit – 22kW Off-Grid Inverter, 20kWh Battery & 16kWp Solar
A practical DIY solar kit designed for self-consumption, everyday household use, and essential backup power. Ideal for homes looking to reduce grid reliance without oversizing the system or relying on unrealistic assumptions.
22-16-20 DIY Solar Kit
22kW Off-Grid Inverter · 20kWh Battery · 16kWp Solar
This is a true off-grid power system designed for sites that require very high instantaneous power and reliable energy availability without relying on grid export or DNO approval.
Using two 11kW off-grid inverters operating in parallel, this system provides up to 22kW of continuous power, making it suitable for demanding residential, agricultural, and commercial applications.

✔ What this kit is ideal for
-
Whole-house backup power
-
High-load homes with multiple appliances running simultaneously
-
Farms, workshops, and rural properties
-
Electric showers (sensible use)
-
Heat pumps with backup support
-
Sites with unreliable or weak grid connections
-
Customers who want power certainty, not export paperwork
⚠ Important design notes
-
This system is configured as a fully islanded off-grid power system
-
No grid export capability
-
No DNO export approval required
-
A generator or grid-connected charger can be added if extended winter autonomy is required
⚠ Battery & autonomy considerations
While this system delivers extremely high power, battery capacity still determines runtime.
-
20kWh provides strong short-term autonomy and peak-load handling
-
For longer runtime, winter resilience, or reduced generator use, a larger battery system is recommended
💡 Important note
This system prioritises power availability and resilience over minimal component count.
It is designed for users who understand that large electrical loads require appropriately sized energy storage.
